Who is the Bike Rabbi?
The first thing to know is that I am not actually a rabbi, at least not in the way you think. But I am Jewish, opinionated, and I like giving advice.
About Matt Friedman
It seems like I have been doing this my whole life
Who am I?
I am a writer, editor, and college lecturer originally from Montreal, one of the North American cycling capitals, who now lives in central New Jersey. I am not, however, a rabbi in the religious sense, though I am Jewish and observant.
Gold Star Cyclist
More importantly, I am a cyclist. I ride for the sheer joy of it, as well as for transportation (I have never owned a car). I have raced some (mostly mountain bike and cyclocross), and I have worked in the bike industry.
Clubs
Cycling is a social sport, and I am a big believer in clubs. I am a member of the Princeton Free Wheelers, and was the founder of an anti-club called The Irregulars which has taken on a new life on Strava. If you are not the member of a club, you really should be.
Social Media
Feel free to follow me in social media, share and like my posts. You can also follow me on Strava. In fact, I insist on it. I’ll even follow you back.
